Grok is spreading inaccurate info again, this time about the Bondi Beach shooting

The same month that Grok opted for a second Holocaust rather than vaporizing Elon Musk’s brain, the AI chatbot went down again. Following the Bondi Beach shooting in Australia during a festival marking the start of Hanukkah, Grok is responding to user requests with inaccurate or completely unrelated information, as first spotted by Gizmodo.
Grok’s confusion appears to be more evident with a viral video that shows a 43-year-old bystander, identified as Ahmed al Ahmed, pushing away a gun from an attacker during the incident, which left at least 16 people dead, according to latest reports. Grok’s responses show that he repeatedly misidentified the individual who arrested one of the gunmen. In other instances, Grok responds to the same image regarding the Bondi Beach shooting with irrelevant details about allegations of targeted shootings against civilians in Palestine.
The latest responses further show Grok’s confusion with the Bondi Beach shooting, even providing information about the incident to unrelated requests or mixing it up with the Brown University shooting in Rhode Island. xAI, the developer of Grok, has yet to officially comment on what’s happening with its AI chatbot. However, this isn’t the first time Grok has gone off the rails, considering he dubbed himself MechaHitler earlier this year.
