Say Cheese! Here’s How to Use Your AirPods to Take an iPhone Picture in iOS 26
Taking photos can be a fun way to save and share memories, but sometimes get a good image can be difficult. For example, if you take a selfie, you may have trouble keeping your phone at the right corner to put everyone in the photo while keeping your hand out of the frame and always being able to press the Capture button. But when Apple releases iOS 26 this fall, it will allow you to use your airpods to take photos so that you can just worry about getting the best angle of everyone.
Apple published the second public beta version of iOS 26 on August 7, and this beta version has brought a new liquid glass design and other new features to the iPhones of developers and beta testers. The beta version has also introduced the camera remote control for AirPods, which allows you to take a photo with a press on your airpods. But you must activate this feature and it only works with AirPods that have an H2 chip, such as AirPods 4 or AirPods Pro 2.
If you have a pair of these airpods, here is where to find the option from the camera and how to use it.
Remember that Apple is still beta test iOS 26. If you want to try the beta version, I recommend downloading it to a secondary device.
It is also possible that Apple can adjust the remote camera option and other update features, before the release of the final version of iOS 26 this fall.
How to turn on the camera remote control
1 and 1 Connect your airpods compatible to your iPhone.
2 Faucet Parameters.
3 and 3 Press your airpods in the Settings menu.
4 Faucet Camera remote control under the control of the camera.
In the new menu, you can choose either Press once Or Press. This refers to how you will press the stem of your airpods to take a photo. Press what you prefer.
You can now use your airpods to take an image or film a closed -door video.
What to know about using your airpods to take a photo
Once the remote control of the camera is activated, you can use your airpods to take a photo or take a video with any camera mode, such as portrait and time.
When you use your AirPods to take a photo in static mode, such as the photo or portrait, you will see a three -count account in the upper left corner of the frame of your photo. Your iPhone flash is also lighting during the countdown to let you know that a photo is about to be taken. If you take a selfie, you will only see the digital countdown on your screen.
The three -second countdown is automatically activated and I find no way to deactivate it. You can extend the countdown of your camera by pressing the point grid in the upper right corner of your screen, typing Timer and pressing 5s or 10s. You can press 3, but that will not change the countdown.
When you take a video using your airpods, you will not see timer or nothing. Press your airpods, it’s like pressing the recording button on your iPhone. You can then press your airpods again to stop the recording.
It is important to note that the camera remote control only works when at least an airpod is connected to your iPhone. The easiest way to do so is to put an airpod in your ear. If you want to take a photo but you do not want your airpod to show in the photo, you can activate the photo process with the camera remote control, remove the airpod from your ear during the three-second vebbed account and hold it in your hand or your pocket until your iPhone takes the photo.
