The former member of the Board of Directors of the U-46, Cody Holt, presents himself for the Senate
Cody Holt, resident of Elgin and former member of the School Board of the District U-46, announced that he would present himself as a republican to the primary of spring for the siege of the Senate of the State of the 33rd district.
Don dewitte, r-st. Charles, has occupied the office since 2018 but does not require re -election.
According to a press release, Holt is a conservative and republican activist for life who worked for WirePoint and the County Circuit System of Kane and as a political consultant.
“Illinois is at home – and the house is worth fighting,” said Holt in the press release. “We all know someone who left for states unless and better managed. This is why I run – to face the initiates of Springfield and fight for people who still believe that the Illinois can be saved. ”
He said he also appeared to call on millennials like him and to reverse the trend of Illinois who loses residents against other states.

The ECC announces student leaders for the 2025-26 school year
Elgin Community College announced its three new student leaders for the 2025-26 school year:
- Angelica Palomar, of Elgin, will be president of the government of the student body of the school. She has graduated from a partner this summer and continues a parajuristic certificate, that she should end up next spring. His career objectives include work as a parajurist, obtaining a baccalaureate in public policy and attending the law.
- Eric Rangel, of Elgin, will be the vice-president of the government. After obtaining his ECC diploma with an associate diploma, Rangel plans to continue an internship, perhaps transferring to the University of Chicago and to practice real estate, while becoming an approved EMT.
- Daniel Gidlund, of Algonquin, was elected student, administrator of the board of directors of the ECC school district 509. First generation student, Gidlund participated in the center of ECC Center for Civic Commitment, student life and student government. He hopes to raise awareness among students with the functions of the functions of the Council, represent their interests and provide reports on student activities.
Brittain’s Express oil and lubricant closed for renovations
Brittain’s Express Oil and Lube, 1570 Larkin Ave., Elgin, closed its doors for renovations.
The work began on August 25 and is expected to take several weeks while the installation is under major updates, a press release said.
“My father Randy launched the company in December 1986, and over the years, the building has started to show a certain age,” the owner John Brittain said. “We will finish steel work, concrete work and painting to refresh and strengthen our shop.”
