Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner Are All in on This Bag Shape for 2026
Just days into 2026, Hailey Bieber is already setting the tone for bags for the new year. Minis, wands, and pouches are great and all, but it looks like the ridiculously roomy tote is about to have a real moment. At least one giant tote in particular is.
And in fact, who is not Looking for a chic handbag that can easily hold all your belongings, plus a laptop, change of clothes and a small pet of your choice? This is the year we can have it all. Or at least wear it.
The first week of January, Bieber uploaded a cache of his vacation photos to Instagram, including a photo with a brand new Chanel triple XL tote from the Métiers d’Art 2026 collection, which made waves for his New York City subway show. Bieber opted for a deliberately simple style, wearing the bag with mismatched camo pants and a hoodie and letting his wired headphones dangle to the side. As if this exclusive new luxury bag, designed by Chanel’s recently appointed creative director Matthieu Blazy, is exactly what she carries to the gym. (See photo here.)
And Bieber isn’t even the first to own this extremely coveted bag. Kylie Jenner posed with the same gigantic Chanel handbag in a December 2025 Instagram post. In her photo, Jenner is kneeling on a gray rug in an unusually cluttered room. (We won’t assume that this is Timothée Chalamet’s house, but like…)
All of this is to say that big bags are having their moment in 2026, especially loose silhouettes with fold-over closures.
If a Chanel tote seems a little out of reach, don’t worry: Bieber recently wore another oversized tote while in Beverly Hills, and it’s also right away. This single-shoulder leather tote is a little more practical for everyday use, but still fits in with the baggy, hobo trends that are continuing into 2026.
You heard it here for the first time, folks: sometimes bigger is better.
