Hamas expected to give response to hostage deal within coming hours, sources tell ‘Post’

The proposal, presented by Qatar and based on Witkoff’s frame, calls for the release of 10 living hostages and 18 bodies during a 60-day ceasefire.

Hamas should respond to the 60-day ceasefire proposal in the coming hours, sources said The Jerusalem post Thursday at the time of the press, noting that there is an increased optimism that the answer will be positive.

The proposal, presented by Qatar and based on Witkoff’s frame, calls for the release of 10 living hostages and 18 bodies during a 60-day ceasefire. During this period, the parties should hold talks aimed at ending the war.

Thursday, senior Hamas officials met in Türkiye to discuss the recently proposed executive.

Under the terms of the agreement, eight hostages would be released on the first day, with two others released on day 50. The deceased bodies would have returned to three phases through the ceasefire of two months.

Prisoners exchanged against hostages

In exchange for hostages, Israel would release 125 Palestinian prisoners in more than 1,111 gasans that Israel arrested after October 7.

“If Hamas gives a positive response to the proposal, we will conclude a difficult proximity to talk about key problems and the number of prisoners to be released. It will be difficult and there will be more crises,” an Israeli official told Walla.

Sources told Asharq Al-Aswat that the table agreement did not currently indicate a clear end date of the war.

Walla said it might indicate either that the terrorist group has doubts about the finalization of an agreement or that it is willing to accept more wave formulas than before.
