Former vice president Kamala Harris said Minneapolis’ resistance to recent immigration control efforts “is such a great example” for the United States.

Harris made the remark Wednesday evening during a stop on her book tour at the Macon City Auditorium in Georgia, where she also said, “There are times when we just have to be intolerant and say we’re not going to have this.”

“In Minnesota, from what we’ve seen in Minneapolisis such a great example. In this regard, look at what is happening among people in the community, who do not necessarily know each other. They go out with their whistles and blow their whistles to alert people in the community of what might be happening that poses a threat to members of the community, they take out their smartphones, their cell phones, they take the video and they check on their neighbors,” Harris said to a crowd of about 300 people.

Fox News Digital contacted the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for comment.

Harris also said at one point during the event that she was there to “advocate intolerance.”

“And in this moment, when so many people are feeling, rightly and understandably, fear and anxiety, we have to take our power back. We have to take our power back and, and I’m seeing this more and more, I think after the shock of seeing some of the things that we’ve seen dissipate, people are kind of done,” Harris said.

“They say, ‘I’m just not going to tolerate this.’ And I’m here to advocate intolerance. We teach intolerance for so many good reasons and on so many things, and we must maintain that. But you understand what I’m saying, there are times when we have to be intolerant and say we don’t have that,” she added.
