HBO is turning Baldur’s Gate into a TV show

HBO is developing a Baldur’s Gate TV show that will continue the story of Larian Studios’ hit RPG Baldur’s Gate 3according to Deadline. The last of us Co-creator Craig Mazin will serve as creator, writer, executive producer and showrunner of the series.
Although there are plans to introduce new protagonists, the plan is for the game’s existing characters to return, and Mazin plans to contact the cast of Baldur’s Gate 3 with “ideas for them to participate in the television adaptation and ways that would make this possible”, Deadline said. (I hope the entire main cast returns because they are all so awesome.)
We don’t know when this new Baldur’s Gate the series could debut. Larian is not involved in the series, reports Geoff Keighley.
“After spending almost 1000 hours in the incredible world of Baldur’s Gate 3it’s a dream come true to be able to continue the story created by Larian and Wizards of The Coast,” Mazin told Deadline. “I am a devoted fan of D&D and the brilliant way in which Swen Vincke and her talented team have adapted it.” (Mazin even completed the game in its super-hard Honor mode, the article states.)
Mazin is also still working on the third season of The last of uswhich could be his last. The series’ other co-creator, Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann, announced last year that he would step away from the series to focus on the studio’s games.
