Head of Seattle Police Officers Guild Has the Perfect Response to Mayor’s Effort to Have Cops Track ICE – RedState

Even though Minneapolis has made headlines for anti-ICE madness, it’s not the only place where leftists have a twisted approach.

In Seattle, they now have a new socialist mayor, Katie Wilson. She has already gone racing this week for disjointed actions.

Progressive Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson announced a series of measures Thursday banning federal agents from using city property to conduct immigration enforcement operations and requiring the police department to investigate, verify and document reports of enforcement activities, citing the federal government’s “unpredictable, chaotic and violent behavior.”

Here’s more of what she says.

She wants police to not only track ICE, but requires them to “share” and cooperate with community organizations to ensure they have the “most current and accurate information about ICE activities.”

I don’t know about you, but that tells me she’s charging them to be ICE trackers and turning them over to “community partners.” You mean ICE watch/response groups? Are these partners you are talking about? Are you kidding?

Not only are you not going to help the feds take criminal illegal aliens off the streets to protect your people or expose your local crazies involved in the anti-ICE effort, but now she wants to delegate to the police what they should be doing to track down ICE. Unless you delegate cooperation to them when needed – which is not what she does – it’s crazy.

Looks like the local law enforcement union thinks so too. Check out this perfect response from Seattle Police Officers Guild President Mike Solan.

Fortunately, some police officers have common sense and are ready to denounce this nonsense. This is the correct answer.

The police also already have enough to do. It’s really wrong to put them in this position, and the mayor should work to help them do the job they’re supposed to do.

We saw another situation like this in Los Angeles, when LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell said he wouldn’t let his men enforce the “mask ban” on federal officers that Gov. Gavin Newsom signed into law.

The reality of one armed agency approaching another armed agency to create conflict over something that would at best be a misdemeanor, or an infraction. This doesn’t make any sense.

This is not a good public policy decision and, in my opinion, it was not well thought out.

Meanwhile, Newsom should be concerned that LAPD and federal agents were attacked by anti-ICE agitators Friday night. Democrats should condemn these actions and take a stand against it all.

People like Newsom and Wilson don’t care about the consequences of their bad policies, which is why they always leave everything they touch a mess.
