How ‘Bob Does Sports’ turned golf and goofing off into a YouTube empire

And just like that, I found myself thinking: I want the life of these youtubers.

You see, I am a millennium raised in the early childhood of the Internet – the iPhone was still a novelty in high school – and there are times when I feel the generational abyss that stretches me, Gen Z, and, more extremely, the children of Gen Alpha. Our digital worlds are just different, And of course.

The youngest want to be influencers more than any other career, showed the survey, which is a job that simply did not exist for a good part of my life. Along the way, this is transformed into a lucrative career – more than a million YouTube subscribers, major sponsorships, meeting places with famous athletes and life as parasocial celebrities for, well, mainly guys in my demographic group.

“We never want to lose this feeling of knowing how crazy it is,” the Bob behind the eponymous Bob told Mashable. “Because, to this day, it’s very, very difficult for us to wrap our heads – See [the channel] grow up and see him get fat, and go to golf courses and see how many fans arrive [to us]. “”

Watching the videos seems to be a silent participant in the trip of a boyfriend – there is golf course, interior jokes and general deceptions of guys in the thirties. As a rule, each video presents the group playing golf with a kind of challenge. This could be a score, a Win-Or-lose match, a quantity of food to eat, a number of drinks to drink or a combination of these goals. Golf counts – you root these guys – but it is more about the group’s comedy.

And it might look like a trip by friends because all the people involved are – or was, really – a normal guy. Berger and Demaore gathered years ago by working in season four in Beverly Hills. Stubbe was an office jockey working an accounting concert. Now, even if you’re not a golf fan, you could recognize shepherd of his funny Tiktok account. He has been working to be a creator for some time, but it was the golf course with Coldcuts – and later FP – who really soaked.

So where are they now?

• A channel with 1.1 million subscribers.

• A sponsorship agreement with Callaway, one of the biggest names in golf.

• Their line of alcoholic drink (having a day) and a line of clothing (windy).

• Videos with some of the biggest names in sport, including Josh Allen, Jon Rahm, some Yankees, and more.

• Alongside Barstool, leading the next newly created YouTube golf tournament with a cagneau of $ 1 million.

A few years ago, Berger was a part -time actor who presented himself with sporting events to heck up the pros (with playfulness). Now golf magazines write on each of its movements.

“It looks like these little moments,” Perez in Mashable told. “It’s like a scale of things that is like: It’s wild,, It’s wild,, It’s crazy, how are we here? “”

They all talked about discovering moments like that, but perhaps nothing more than their match against the popular pro Max Homa. This video has accumulated more than 3 million views and was an incredible, funny and suspense golf match. It was also a sign that the golf world considered BDS as legitimate.

A rising tide raises all the boats, and it is not as if the BDS crew is the only creator of Youtube golf in popularity. What separates BDS, however, is that they are really funny while playing the most stuffy sport known to man. Horvat is perhaps the “Golden Boy” of YouTube Golf – he seems to attract his biggest crowd of young golfers – but he simply could not crush a large whole pizza while playing like the guys from the BDS. No one else in golf cites a deep internet tradition. No one else in golf debates chili merits in hot weather. And nothing in the world makes me laugh as hard as kitsy – which is a little hot – melt like everyone else looks at it.

“If Bob made his way, I would be the sequel to the Truman Show … He would just have eyes on me at any time. I think I would live just in a simulation or something.”

In some respects, it is the magic of the group. Between their videos, social presence, podcast, and more, you start to feel like You know These guys. You hang out with them. And all of them are only in its kind, perhaps coldcots especially.

So when they are in public, people give them shit because they feel like old friends. It is a funny phenomenon. People like Rib FP to have difficulties in their food challenges, despite, you know, the word fat being on behalf.

However, speaking to these guys, you have the feeling that they Understand how lucky they are to do what they do. For guys of our age, one trip a year of golf friends is an incredible luxury. They do it to earn a living. It is a career path that did not exist five years ago, not to mention something that they could have imagined as children.

“I’m almost sure that my grandparents have no idea what I do,” said FP. “We will have visible videos of 2 million. And then I do, as, Virginia Golfer MagazineA free magazine, and they are like: ‘Oh, look! You did it!. I say to myself, “grandmother, you have to look here, like, light the computer.” “”

To see such a rapid increase in popularity – and see their lives move completely – it is logical that the trio said they expect to continue to do more of the same thing. They pointed out that as they grow up, they know that fun golf videos are bread and butter. But that does not mean that they do not think of intensifying it. Late nights with Airbnbs often end in producers who pitched more and more bizarre ideas.

“Jet wanted to challenge food and alcohol, combined, for 18 holes,” said Coldcuts, noting that the idea had opposed its veto. “It’s just like ‘Yo, we are going to get away from it and stingy in the emergency room.”
