Heartbreaking Reason Woman Has Kept Homemade Sauce in Fridge for 4 Years

A woman explaining why she has saved a homemade sauce for four years has become viral in Tiktok, collecting 2.5 million views.

Hanna Kim (@Becominghanna) shared a video of herself holding an almost empty pot of Gochujang – a Korean condiment – June 28. She explained: “This is what sorrow likes.”

During the clip, Kim, 36, explained that it was the last lot that his mother Kyung, 72, was made before his death and added that she did not intend to consume it but will continue to feel it from time to time.

Kim, who lives in Maryland, said Nowsweek: “I first kept the pot of his refrigerator because I knew that Gochujang was not something that was spoiled quickly and that she had done it recently. But I became more protective when I remembered how proud she was the day she told me that she had done it.”

According to the United States Census Bureau, around 30.8% of people in the United States lost their biological mother. A little more (39.8%) lost their biological father.

When Kyung died on April 19, 2021, pulmonary disease and heart failure, Kim “with regret” gave and donated many personal effects.

Kim recalled: “The pulmonary disease had left my mother so weak at that time that even simple tasks like cooking were major achievements.

“My husband and I used the Gochujang for a while, but last year, I realized that I was reaching the bottom of the pot. I could not bring myself to finish it. It was like the last meal that my mother had ever made for me.”

During the clip, Kim jokes “will I fight someone trying to throw him away? Yes.”

She said Nowsweek: “I moved into my current house after my mother died, so seeing the pot in the refrigerator is a way to bring my mother with me.

“Over time, he came to represent more than something she has done, it is like a symbol of her love and his strength. It reminds me of her unconditional care, how even when it was difficult for her to take care of herself, she always wanted to feed me and feed me. It is like her way of loving me one last time.”

Kim describes her mother as “beautiful and strong”, she said: “Life has treated her more than her fair share of challenges, but she still crossed the world with grace and gratitude.

“She taught me to direct with kindness and love, even when life felt incredibly hard. I hope that more people knew how loving and generous she was.

“Her absence is a loss not only for me, but for all those who have never had the chance to know her.”

Kim’s video has resonated widely, accumulating more than 456,000 likes.

“I think your sorrow is beautiful,” said a comment with more than 25,000 likes.

“My mother rolled her hair with rollers every night of her adult life until cancer takes her. I always have it in a small fabric bag, and sometimes I open it [because] They always smell his hair, “said another.
