HelloFresh Meal Kit’s Discount Code for December 2025 Unlocks a Free Zwilling Knife
I don’t know if a good knife is hard to find. But they usually cost at least a hundred dollars, so it’s worth noting that HelloFresh is offering one of WIRED’s favorite chef’s knives for free at the super low price.
It’s the time of year when many of the best meal kit deals start happening. And so, if you stay for three weeks with HelloFresh’s meal delivery service, your third box will include delivery of an 8-inch Zwilling Four Star chef’s knife, a $100-plus carbon steel blade that WIRED reviewer Molly Higgins lists as her second favorite blade overall — and her favorite carbon steel for most people.

If you haven’t tried the brand in a while, I noted last spring in my HelloFresh review (8/10, WIRED recommends) that the German-founded meal delivery service had expanded its repertoire to light, bright, internationally focused meals. This has only continued since the brand refresh in July which added seasonal produce and options on dark chicken meat (wonder of wonders!).
HelloFresh’s delivery recipe kits tend to cost around $12 per serving — much more economical than restaurant meals — and sometimes much cheaper than trying a new recipe — but more than it would typically cost to make meals from basic ingredients in your own pantry. I tend to use meal kits to try new recipes, and especially to avoid ordering delivery when inspiration is low.

8 Inch Four Star Chef Knife
The Zwilling Four Star chef’s knife is nominally listed at $145, but it often goes on sale for over $100. Either way, this is a great knife for the great price of nothing, when paired with the meal kits. Zwilling is one of the oldest knife companies, and its knives also tend to be built for longevity. This 8-inch knife is a sturdy, ergonomic V-cut blade designed to take hits without chipping. Its Rockwell hardness of 57 is slightly softer than that found in professional kitchens. But that makes it forgiving compared to some more brittle carbon steels, making it ideal for a casual home chef who doesn’t mind using a sharpening rod to keep the blade in line.
But note that carbon steel requires extra care. You cannot put it in the dishwasher and you must dry it immediately after washing. It can rust if you leave it, so don’t leave it. The trade-off is that carbon steel retains its advantage much longer than regular stainless steel. This should therefore remain a sharp blade for a while, rarely requiring sharpening.
