Henderson domestic violence victim remembered as ‘great mom’

A Henderson family is going through the new year without a mother after a heartbreaking loss on Christmas Eve.
“Kids are trying to be strong,” Ashley Stevenson said.
Stevenson is the cousin of Tiffany Lassiter, 37, who was allegedly shot and killed by her boyfriend at her home in the 800 block of Dabney Drive on Wednesday.
Mahlon Leroy Hebron, 52, faces a murder charge in connection with the shooting. Hebron is being held at the Vance County Detention Center without bail.

“We’re angry,” Stevenson said. “This is something that should not happen to anyone…I hope justice is served.”
Lassiter is remembered as a “great mom,” who leaves behind five children. Four of them remain with Stevenson and his family while police investigate the circumstances of the shooting.
“It’s really hard for a lot of us,” Stevenson said. “They’re the strongest kids I know. We’re doing our best to get through this as much as possible. I’m trying to support them as much as possible. So we’re taking it step by step.”
Henderson police said the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting remain under investigation.
