Flyers announcing a conservative conference at Gettysburg College were hijacked and altered to show incorrect information intended to ‘deliberately mislead'[e]» students and prevent them from attending.

Fliers posted by the school’s Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) chapter to draw attention to an upcoming speech by North Korean defector Yeonmi Park were reproduced and republished on campus with an incorrect date, time and location, the chapter informed the Daily Caller News Foundation. The QR code on the original flyer directed potential attendees to conference ticket information. In the fake flyers, this code was replaced with a code leading to the radical trans organization The Trevor Project, a proponent of medical gender transition for minors.

“Yesterday, it was discovered that an individual on campus had taken one of our flyers, scanned it, digitally altered the date, time, location and QR code, and then printed the flyer,” Gettysburg YAF told DCNF. “In our view, this was done to diminish attendance at the event by deliberately misleading spectators. On the altered flyer, the venue number was changed to ‘420’ and the event time to ‘February 31’, a non-existent date, and doors open at ‘5 p.m.’, which is false. The event is in fact scheduled to take place today, February 25.th in CUB 260. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

The fraudulent flyer retained the YAF chapter’s logo, as well as that of its parent organization, Young America’s Foundation. According to the Gettysburg YAF chapter, this use falsely implies that the group supports views on sex reassignment surgery in children, which it actually opposes.

“Gettysburg YAF believes that any type of transgender ‘treatment’ offered by doctors is not medicine, but mutilation, and that doctors are doing their patients a great disservice by affirming the delusion,” the chapter told the DCNF.

Several other flyers advertising the event and chapter meetings were torn or vandalized, photos provided to the DCNF show.

“When someone can’t debate ideas on their merits, they resort to lame and childish tactics like this,” a Young America’s Foundation spokesperson told DCNF. “We look forward to tonight’s event and hope that students who object to the speaker’s message will attend, listen and debate during the Q&A like adults rather than throwing tantrums like children.”

If the flyers were printed by a student or staff member on campus, the college would likely be able to trace the account linked to the printing job and identify the person responsible, Gettysburg YAF says. The building where the fake flyer was found is one of the few places on campus where individuals can print in color for free.

Gettysburg College did not respond to DCNF’s request for comment.

The chapter goes on to state that “the College’s conduct policies are insufficient to deter individuals on campus from violating them.” (RELATED: Racially Obsessed University Chaplain Allegedly Intimidated Student With ‘Physical Contact’ During Anti-DEI Event)

“Despite a recent reminder from the administration to students, our flyers continue to be torn up. Obviously, their message was ineffective.”
