Hollywood auction of “Indiana Jones” whip draws $575,000 after “Citizen Kane” Rosebud sled gets near-record $14.75 million

Beverly Hills, California. – A whip exercised by Harrison Ford in “Indiana Jones and the last crusade” which formerly belonged to Princess Diana sold auction for $ 525,000.
Thursday’s sale came a day after the Rosebud sled of “Citizen Kane” opted for $ 14.75 million, making it one of the most expensive accessories in the history of cinema.
They were part of the summer entertainment auction which is held all week by the Heritage auction.
Heritage says that the overall socket has made it the second highest entertainment auction of all time, and there is still one day.
In order not to be in place for the offers, there is the snowplate in knitting macaulay culkin from “Home Alone”, a Kurt Russell revolver of “Wyatt Earp”, a pair of “Hattori Hanzo” Swords of “Kill Bill Vol. 1” and a first edition of Harry Potter novels signed by JK Rowling.
The whip sold on Thursday was used during the trials of the Holy Grail that the character of Ford crosses the peak of “Indiana Jones of 1989 and the last crusade”.

Ford gave him to Prince Charles of the time during the first British of the film. It was given as a gift to Princess Diana, who gave it to the current owner, who was not identified. The buyer was not identified either.
“Bullwhip is the emblematic symbol of an emblematic character in the history of cinema, Indiana Jones, and was a highlight of this auction,” said Joe Maddalena, executive vice-president of Heritage, in a statement to the Associated Press.
The price of $ 525,000 includes the “bonus of buyers” attached to all the auction items for the house that sells it.
Heritage said that the offer of nearly $ 15 million for the Rosebud sled put it in second position on 32.5 million dollars that Judy Garland’s Ruby slippers from “The Wizard of Oz” recovered in December. None of these buyers were identified either.
The sled was sold by the longtime owner Joe Dante, director of films, including “Gremlins”.
“Rosebud” is the last word pronounced by the main character of the 1941 film by director Orson Welles “Citizen Kane”, and the hunt for its meaning provides the intrigue of the film. Many criticisms considered him the best film ever made.
Long thought lost, the sled is one of the three of the accessories known for having survived. Dante tripped on it when he turned on the old Lot RKO Pictures in 1984. He was not a collector, but knew the sled value and preserved him quietly for decades, putting him like an Easter egg in four of his own films.
Dante’s friend and mentor, Steven Spielberg, paid $ 60,500 for another sleigh in 1982, and the anonymous buyer paid $ 233,000 for the third in 1996.
