Hospital food linked to Salmonella outbreak


An epidemic of Salmonella linked to food served in Gran Canaria hospitals received 17 people.
The Ministry of Health has reported that nine patients were treated at the Gran Canaria University Hospital and eight at Juan Carlos I. Gran Canaria hospital is one of the Canary Islands.
The Directorate General for Public Health of the Canary Islands initially declared that 11 people had been bonded.
Three people were returned from hospitals, and seven others were written after overcoming the symptoms of food poisoning. However, they will remain in hospitals due to other underlying conditions.
Officials began to analyze food samples and samples taken from patients.
The hospital’s kitchen service, which serves the two hospitals, stopped the distribution of items suspected of being the source of the food epidemic to avoid other infections.
In a separate incidentA hundred people fell ill in a hotel in Los Angeles.
The Ministry of Health (Consejería de Salud) in Murcia said that diseases have been reported in people staying at the Cavanna hotel. Patient samples tests have confirmed that the causal agent is Salmonella.
The authorities have ordered a precautionary suspension of the hotel’s kitchen operations as well as the in -depth cleaning and disinfection of the installations.
