THE Nintendo Switch2 is out, and it might not be worth upgrading yet if you already own the original Nintendo Switch (especially at its $450-$500 price point). If you don’t, you can still get one and enjoy it before the Switch 2 really launches. Walmart is currently selling the Nintendo Switch Gray Joy-Con for $294.99 (originally $361.40). No other reputable seller has this new version for sale. If you’re OK with a used console, GameStop offers a used version for $209.99an advantageous price for the gray Joy-Con version.
With pricing affecting Nintendo and the Nintendo Switch 2 already released, it’s difficult to determine whether this is a fair historical price. However, given that the Switch 2 can easily cost double the price, the decision to get the original console is much easier. What might be a tougher decision is whether or not to get the OLED version. At this point, the Nintendo Switch already has an incredible library of games to choose from, but the same can’t be said for the Switch 2. This specific model comes with a gray Joy-Con, which is a more mature version than the original blue and red version. You can expect between 4.5 and 9 hours per charge depending on your usage and the game you’re playing. It has a 6.2-inch screen, 32GB of data storage, and online gaming if you pay for the Nintendo Switch Online plan, which starts at $19.99 per year. I personally enjoyed the classic Nintendo 64 games available to play with the online subscription. It’s a lovely nostalgic feeling that I get to relive with my brothers and friends.
