Mother, stepfather of missing Oklahoma boy arrested for abuse

The mother and stepfather of a 12-year-old boy missing for more than a week in Oklahoma have been arrested on child abuse charges.
Ryan Davis, who also goes by RJ and Ryker, was last seen Jan. 2 at the intersection of Fourth Street and Grand Avenue in Chickasha, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. He wore a red and black plaid shirt, dark jeans, and brown steel-toed boots.
Authorities have since called his disappearance “suspicious” and issued an endangered missing person notice for the preteen.
Earlier this week, police announced the arrests of his mother Kimberly Cole and stepfather George Cole. They were both taken into custody Wednesday evening and jailed on charges including child abuse, child sexual abuse and conspiracy complaints, according to the OSBI. They remained behind bars Saturday at the Caddo County Jail.
“During the conversation with them, it was learned that apparent harm had been caused to this child while living with these two parents,” OSBI spokesperson Hunter McKee said during a press briefing Thursday.
McKee did not provide further details about the abuse Davis was subjected to, although he told reporters the boy’s home was “not a safe environment.”
“It’s extremely sad,” McKee added. “It’s been a horrible deal so far for everyone involved.”
The search for Davis continues, with the OSBI offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who can “confirm RJ’s location, leading to his safe return.”
At this point, authorities believe Ryan “is alive,” so they are doing “everything they can” to locate him, McKee said.
The 12-year-old is 4 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 85 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
