How AI Is Upending Politics, Tech, the Media, and More
More and more Divided world, one thing on which everyone seems to be heard is that artificial intelligence is an extremely disturbing – and sometimes downright destructive phenomenon.
At the Wired Ai Power Summit in New York on Monday, the leaders of the worlds of technology, politics and the media gathered to discuss how the AI transforms their intertwined worlds. The summit included votes from the AI industry, a current American senator, a former Trump administration official and publishers, including Wired’s parent company, Condé Nast. “In journalism, many of us have been excited and worried about the AI to an equal extent,” said Anna Wintour, director of content of Condé Nast and world editorial director of Vogue, in her opening remarks. “We are concerned about his replacement for our work and the work of those we write.”
Political leaders have offered contrasting visions to ensure AI have a positive impact overall. Richard Blumenthal, the Democratic Senator of Connecticut, said that decision-makers should learn from social media and find appropriate railing around copyright violation and other key problems before IA causes too much damage. “We want to face the perfect storm that swallows journalism,” he said in the conversation with Wired world editorial director Katie Drummond.
In a separate conversation, Dean Ball, a senior member of the Foundation for American Innovation and one of the authors of the Action Plan of the AI of the Trump administration, defended the vision of this policy for the regulation of the AI. He said he had introduced more rules concerning the risks of AI than any other government.
IA industry figures have also painted a pink table of the IA impact, arguing that it will be a boon for economic growth and would not be deployed without control.
