Village People lead ‘world-class line-up’ for Trump-tinged World Cup 2026 draw | World Cup 2026

Robbie Williams, Andrea Bocelli and the Village People will perform as part of a “world-class entertainment lineup” at Friday’s draw for the 2026 Men’s World Cup. The draw for next year’s tournament will take place at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, with model and television personality Heidi Klum, comedian Kevin Hart and actor Danny Ramirez co-hosting the event.
The Village People will perform at the YMCA to close an event that promises to have distinctly Trumpian overtones. The disco hit has become a staple at Donald Trump campaign rallies and Mar-a-Lago fundraisers.
Other musical performances will include classical singer Bocelli and a duet from Williams – who is Fifa’s musical ambassador – and Nicole Scherzinger. The tournament will take place next summer in the United States, Canada and Mexico, from June 11 to July 19, in 16 cities.
Adding another layer of connection with Trump, Fifa also plans to unveil its new “Peace Prize – Football Unites the World” at the event. The award is widely expected to go to Trump after his request to receive the Nobel Peace Prize this year. FIFA President Gianni Infantino attended Trump’s inauguration in January and said he deserved global recognition for his role in brokering a Middle East ceasefire.
Expanded to 48 teams and 104 matches, the World Cup will stretch from Mexico City to Vancouver and from New York to Los Angeles, with the bulk of matches taking place in the United States as Fifa seeks to tap the world’s largest sports market.
Trump overhauled the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in February, becoming president of the organization and firing its president, Deborah Rutter.
