The GOP suffered a terrible loss in Virginia on Tuesday, but as the skies clear, there appears to be some good news for their midterm fears.
Virginia voters approved a Democratic-backed constitutional amendment to allow the state Legislature to redraw congressional districts for the rest of the decade, bypassing the bipartisan redistricting commission. The measure passed from 51.5 percent to 48.5 percent, with Democrats leading. The result gives Democrats a potential opportunity to flip up to four Republican-held seats in Virginia’s 11-member House delegation, pushing the current 6-to-5 Democratic advantage to a 10-to-1 advantage.
