How to turn off AI in Windows and bring yourself some peace

Microsoft, like most other major technological companies, piles as much artificial intelligence as possible in its products. It is presented in Microsoft Edge, in the Office suite, and even in the most basic programs of the operating system, such as notepad and paint.
It is difficult to move away, but you don’t have to use it. If you prefer that you did not have AI assistants who interrupt you regularly, or if you want to count on your own capacities to put a word before another, there are ways to deactivate and hide AI.
The steps below apply to a Copilot + PC (with special AI capabilities), running Windows 11 at home. You may not see exactly the same features and options, depending on the age of your computer and the Windows version you use, but in general, many parameters should be similar.
Hide (or uninstall) Co -pilot
Windows PCs are now delivered with preinstalled Copilot: you could even see that there is a dedicated COPILOT button on your keyboard. Copilot works like Google Gemini or Chatgpt, ready to respond to requests, think about ideas and help you with other daily tasks, but if you don’t need it, you can get rid of it.
You can hide the co -pilot by right -clicking on his icon on the taskbar and choosing UnusAnd his shortcut will disappear. Other options can be found in the Copilot application, by clicking on the image of your Microsoft account (bottom left) and choosing Parameters (Click on the side panel button at the top left, if you can’t see your avatar).

Once you are on the co -pilot settings page, you will see that you can turn off Start automatically on the connection To ensure that Copilot does not start at the same time as Windows does. There is another rocking switch here, Co -pilot open using Alt + SpaceBar shortcutthat you can deactivate to accidentally open the AI assistant using your keyboard.
If you prefer a more difficult approach, you can uninstall Copilot, just like most other programs on Windows. Open the main settings panel, then choose Applications> installed applications To see a complete list of applications on your system: scroll down towards Copilot, click on the three points to the right of its entry and choose Uninstall.

You will also find a lot of default AI in the Microsoft Edge browser. One way to get away from it would be to go entirely to a different browser – even if they are all gradually adding AI features, but you can continue to use Edge as a choice of choice with fewer AI, if you wish.
With Microsoft Edge open, click on the three points in the upper right corner, then choose Parameters. Go to Co -pilot and sidebar Screen using the links on the left, then click Co -pilot. You can turn off the Show the Copilot button in the toolbar Turn the switch so that the icon is hidden from the on -board interface.
Delete other AI features
There are many other AI features propagate in the windows, some with the Copilot brand and some without. There is the Windows recall function, for example, which uses AI to follow all the activities that occur on your PC so that you can search through them, as a navigation history but for your entire computer.
It should be mentioned that the Windows reminder must be deactivated by default on the new Windows computers, so you will only need to deactivate it if you have already activated it. You can check the state of the recall by heading to Windows settings: Choose Confidentiality and security > Reminder and instantaneousAnd you can deactivate the feature if you need it.

Also on the Confidentiality and security Screen, you have another feature called Click to dowhich allows you to right -click on text and images to process them via AI and perform various tasks (such as web research). Again, it can be disabled with a rocking switch if you don’t want to use it.
You may have noticed that the AI slipped into the notepad and painting, to help you with your writing and your image creation-and the functionalities come again via buttons on the toolbars with Copilot brand. In the notepad, click on the COG icon (top right) to access the program settings, then turn off the Co -pilot Turn the switch to hide the AI features of sight.

Unfortunately, at the time of writing, there is no similar feature in the paint program settings – you are stuck with the COPILOT button on your toolbar, even if you uninstall the Windows Main Copilot application. It was previously possible to remove the co -pilot from the paint in the previous iterations of the application, so that this functionality can possibly return.
Microsoft is almost sure to continue to repel these features and extras from the AI, and adding them above its existing software. But whatever the changes, continue to check the system and application options for the possibility of deleting or deactivating AI – the planet will thank you.
