Gorbea solar project in India reaches full operations

The renewable energy company Zelestra has announced the start of complete commercial operations in its 435 megawatts Direct (MWDC) solar project in Rajasthan, India.
Completed in less than eight months, this project was made possible thanks to a 25 -year -old electricity purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
The Gorbea project should produce 755 Gigawatts (GWH) of clean energy every year, enough to supply 128,000 households in India.
The Minister of Union with new and renewable energies, Pralhad Joshi, praised the project for having contributed to the production of renewable energy of India and to support the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi (“Green Revolution”).
Priorifying the community benefits of this development, Minister Joshi has ordered that the job opportunities generated by the project are mainly offered to young locals.

Zelestra, with a robust pipeline comprising 5.4 GW of multi-technical projects across India, already has a 1.7 GW contract with customers.
In early July 2025, the company obtained an additional 235 million euros ($ 277 million) for its loan linked to sustainability, increasing the total to 770 million euros ($ 907 million). The company plans to use these funds to develop new wind farms, solar installations and battery storage systems.
