I Figured Out How to Turn off iOS 26’s Annoying New Screenshot Features

In iOS 26, Apple has expanded its visual intelligence function of the camera on the screen. Now you can use visual intelligence to ask anything on what is on your screen, to add events to your calendar or to search for images using Google (similar to the Google Circle in search). All of this is pretty cool, but it comes with a redesigned and full screen screenshot.

When everything you want to do is take a quick screenshot, see this big screen of splashes and all new AI buttons can become boring quickly. In addition, you may not want Apple Intelligence to see what is on your screen (which it will now do automatically), whatever the usefulness of these updates.

Fortunately, you can deactivate the new Splash screen and return to the old miniature preview method instead. In addition, if necessary, you can always trigger visual intelligence, even when using vignettes.

Since the iOS 18.2 update, you have been able to use Chatgpt to ask questions about what’s on your screen. But with iOS 26 (currently available as a beta developer and soon takes place as public beta), Apple presents an automatic visual overview of the mix. This new feature automatically analyzes your screenshot the second where it is captured. Then he draws relevant usable information and adds it under the screenshot.

For example, if your screenshot is an invitation to a party, it will show you a button to a carpet to add it to your calendar. If your screenshot is a website, you will see a link to go directly. In addition, there is a feature that allows you to highlight any image to find similar images on Google, as if you used Circle To Google or Google Lens.

How to deactivate the full -screen visual intelligence screen screen

If you stick to this new full option to take screenshots, you will need to type twice to save a screenshot each time you take one. First, you will need to press the Check button at the top of the screen, then choose Save in the photos. It is a big difference in a process that was instantaneous.

Fortunately, Apple has an option to deactivate the new Splash screen. To return to the old method, go to Parameters > General > Screenshot and deactivate the Full screen spot option.

Now when you take a screenshot, you will see the overview of the miniature familiar in the lower left corner of the screen. Even better, you are still free to press the preview to open the full view, which will then display all your visual intelligence suggestions.

How to deactivate automatic visual intelligence in screenshots (or absolutely)

If you are concerned about privacy, there are two ways to proceed with visual intelligence. The first is to deactivate the automatic search, which scans your screenshot as soon as you take it.

To deactivate this feature, go to Parameters > General > Screenshot and deactivate the Automatic visual search option.

After that, these automatic suggestions of visual intelligence will disappear. But the options to chat with Chatgpt and to highlight to search for images will always be there. At least, these are not automatic, and without your consent or your express action, no data will go to Apple’s servers.

But you can also deactivate these options by completely deactivating the Apple Intelligence. To do that, go to Parameters > Apple Intelligence & Siri and deactivate the Apple Intelligence functionality.
