I Held Apple’s Wildly Thin iPhone Air, and I’m Already Obsessed
Apple made its debut on Tuesday on its iPhone, and after getting their hands on the apparatus at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, I am amazed to see how thin and light it is. Only 5.6 mm thick and 165 grams, it is one of these phones that you might have to hold to understand its appeal. I can’t wait to find out if what’s inside is up to this breathtaking design.
With iPhone air in one hand and my iPhone 16 pro max in the other, the difference between the two devices is striking. The first feels refreshing and ventilated and smooth compared to my higher current phone, although there are compromises with regard to specifications such as the camera and the battery (more on this subject in a moment). Like Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge, which I examined earlier this year, it is a phone that you barely feel in a pocket or bag. It seems quite solid, and I can’t wait to do the back pocket test to see how well it is.

The long -awaited iPhone air starts at $ 999 (£ 999, $ 1,799 at). It has a titanium frame for a lasting and light construction, and the company’s ceramic shield covers the front and back. An anti -reflective display and a 3,000 nit peak brightness should facilitate seeing the screen in direct sunlight – that I can’t wait to test once I do it outside.
For the moment, however, I can tell you that iPhone air can give other thin devices like Samsung’s S25 EDGE a race for their money – and potentially help the niche category to attract more attention by arousing interest among more consumers.
The air has a generous 6.5 inch screen and fits well in my hand; It does not seem too small or too large. And as the basic iPhone 17, it has a promotion screen with a variable refresh rate at 120 Hz, which means that it supports a display always on (a feature that I can personally live) so that you can see your notifications without waking up the screen. This is a welcome change, because before, only Apple Pro Model phones had this 120 Hz display.

The iPhone Air contains an A19 Pro chip. It also has the Apple N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, as well as a faster and more efficient version of its internal 5G modem, the C1X, which is an update of the C1 Modem that it made its debut on the iPhone 16th earlier this year.

I can’t wait to test the battery in my daily life and see how it compared to the 3,900 mAh battery on the Galaxy S25 Edge, which is one of the main drawbacks of this phone.
At the rear, the iPhone Air has a 48 -megapixel melting camera, which also allows 2x telephotojectives. At the front, you will find the new 18 megapixel Selfie camera from Apple which works both in a landscape and a portrait orientation. I played with this feature in the Apple demonstration room and I was impressed by the way it adjusted the landscape portrait when more and more people had appeared. I can’t wait to continue using this feature and see how this solo fusion lens of 48 megapixels at the rear can accomplish.
