As editor -in -chief, I have accumulated a lot of multitools, many of whom drag in a drawer near my office. Recently, however, I carried the Leatherman signal, and I found that it strikes an ideal point between usefulness, design and weight. As its name suggests, this survival tool has an integrated whistle, as well as a fire starter so that you can signal people in the event of an emergency.
