Terence Crawford has spoken out to the World Boxing Council (WBC) after the organization stripped him of his undisputed world super middleweight title due to his failure to pay sanction fees for his last two fights.
The undefeated American boxer won the title after defeating Canelo Alvarez by unanimous decision in September. The fight was sanctioned by all four major sanctioning bodies, including the World Boxing Association (WBA), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Organization (WBO), calling the bout an undisputed title fight.

But on Wednesday, the WBC stripped Crawford of its belt. The sanctioning body claimed to have changed its fees to 0.6% from the standard 3%. He also claimed that Crawford would have made $50 million for this fight.

The WBC claimed that Crawford also failed to pay previous fees for his fight against Israil Madrimov in August 2024.
“The WBC has sent several communications to Champion Crawford, his manager and his legal counsel. Very unfortunately, the WBC has received no acknowledgment or response to any of these communications,” the statement said.
“The WBC had no choice but to act, given that Champion Crawford had received numerous notices and multiple opportunities to address and resolve the situation.”

But in a fiery and foul-mouthed tirade shared on Instagram, Crawford hit back at allegations about how much he gained in the Alvarez fight and even accused WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman of favoritism.
“I have something to say. I have a lot to say,” he began. “I see Mauricio has a lot to say about me not paying him $300,000, plus $100,000 something for the sanction fee, right?
“You can take the damn belt! It’s a trophy anyway,” he continued in his long speech.
