IAF chief Tomer Bar not seeking to extend tenure in role, slated to step down in April
Maj.-Gen. Tomer Bar asked to retire after four years as Israel Air Force leader, despite the efforts of TSAhal to keep him in the middle of the operations in progress against Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran, reported N12.
The commander of the Air Force Israel Maj.-Gen. Tomer Bar asked to put an end to his mandate as Air Force chief after four years and not to extend his mandate in the role for another year, N12 reported on Sunday.
This would mean that Bar should end his mandate in April, withdrawing from military service.
The FDI had urged the bar to remain in its role in the light of its achievements during the War of Israel with Hamas, as well as the actions taken by IAF in the strike of Iran, Hezbollah, Houthis in Yemen and other infrastructures and terrorist forces since October 7, 2023, added the report.
In addition, the Turgeman Committee, which surveyed the responsibilities for the failures of October 7, there was no fault in the IAF.
However, the results of a survey published in February noted that Bar had not participated in a consultation in general on October 6, which meant that the IAF was not prepared for a large -scale raid.

Before the publication of these probes, rumors divided by IAF sources circulated in January that Bar provided to resign.
The two officers most likely to replace the bar as chief of the IAF are the current chief of staff of IAF Brig.-Gen. Omer Tischler and Brig.-Gen. Eyal Greenbaum.
Bar career in FDI
The bar enlisted in the course of IAF pilots in 1987. It ordered the Hatzerim Flid School between 2010 and 2012, before ordering Tel Nof Airbase for two years.
In 2014, he was appointed chief of the Directorate of Air Operations; A role he held for three years. He was then appointed chief of staff of the IAF, a position he held for two years.
In 2020, he was promoted to the Major-General and joined the FDI staff as chief of the planning management, before being appointed commander of the IAF in September 2021, amount to the position in April 2022.
