How Meghan Markle’s US Popularity Compares to Royals

The popularity of Meghan Markle in the United States has had ups and downs in the five years since it returned to America from Great Britain.
Currently, she has a positive net favorite score, but it was not always so after the counterpoup following the book of Prince Harry Spare And their Netflix show Harry and Meghan.
Markle has still not recovered the level of popularity she appreciated before the couple’s Oprah Winfrey interview, but it is largely in positive terms with the American public.
The popularity of Meghan Markle before Oprah
The American survey on the popularity of the Royals is rare compared to Great Britain, but not nonexistent. Yougov has carried out a number of surveys over the years, especially in November 2020.
Markle was appreciated by 57% and hated by 30%, which gave it a rating of net approval of 27. This compared to Prince Harry at +40, Princess Kate at +49, Prince William at +54 and King Charles III at -13.
The couple’s fracture with the monarchy had not yet completely exploded in the public domain and they had only recently signed their Netflix contract in September.
However, there had been a public counterpoux after Markle called the “change we all needed and deserved” on behalf of the “When All Women” initiative of former First Lady Michelle Obama in the presidential election who overthrew President Donald Trump this month.
In January 2020, Yougov asked the Americans if they supported or opposed Harry and Meghan to retreat from the monarchy. Exactly, half supported this decision, 7% opposed this and 43% replied “I don’t know”.
On March 5, 2021, when the teasers of the interview with Oprah began to drop, Yougov asked if people were mainly sympathetic to the Royals or the Sussex.
At that time, 29% supported the Sussex and 13% supported Queen Elizabeth II and the Royals, while most said “both”, “neither”, “I don’t know” or “not applicable”.

Meghan’s popularity after Oprah
On March 8, 2021, Yougov carried out a snap survey immediately after its broadcast which showed that 68% of Americans had sympathy for Harry and Meghan, against 27% who had not or not.
This compared 28% who had sympathy for the Royals and 68% who had neither much or not.
In other words, the Americans initially seemed to take the side of Harry and Meghan the day after the interview.
In May 2022, however, Yougov ran more from a survey which showed collapse in the net favored ratings of Meghan. Meghan was appreciated by 45% of Americans and did not like 36%, which gave him a net approval rating of +9.
A drop of 18 points compared to November 2020 may seem clear, but it remained in positive numbers and the crisis was much less serious than in Great Britain, where it fell deeply in a negative territory.
Meanwhile, Harry fell to over 18, a slide of 22 points, Kate slipped to more than 36, William at more than 31 and Charles slipped up to less than 7. Queen Camilla was at least 13.
Meghan’s popularity around Spare and Netflix
Redfield and Wilton made other questions in the name of Nowsweek On December 5, 2022, a few days from the couple’s release Harry and Meghan Biopic and three months after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
At that time, 43% of Americans loved Meghan and she was hated by 20%, which means a rating of net approval of 23.
Harry was more than 38, Kate plus 43 and William Plus 40, while Charles was more than 12 and Camilla minus 2.
However, the couple crashed in the aftermath of Prince Harry’s memories Spare and Netflix in the eyes of the American public.
All of Redfield & Wilton’s statements for Nowsweek On January 16, Meghan abandoned 36 points, after being appreciated by 26% of Americans and did not hate 39%, which gave him a net approval of -13.
Harry dropped 45 points at less than 7, while Kate slipped over 26, William at over 21, Charles at more than 8 and Camilla at less than 8.
Meghan’s popularity in 2025
The most recent survey of Yougov on the Americans came in April, when 41% liked Meghan and 26% loved it, giving a clear note of more than 15.
Meanwhile, Harry was over 35, Kate was over 43, William was at over 53, Charles was more than 21 and Camilla was at least seven.
In summary, Meghan has always surveyed behind William, Kate and Harry and in front of Camilla. She mainly questioned before King Charles, except in the last survey, in which he did unusually.
Although she cannot command characters as strong as her brother-in-law and her sister-in-law, she has rebounded considerably from her lowest point following the rest of Spare.
However, she did not find the high notes that she appreciated before Oprah, in November 2020.
