ICE detains Peruvian migrant who threatened self-harm with butcher knife

Immigration and customs application said on Wednesday that an illegal migrant had been detained in Washington, DC, after being arrested by agents and then signaled that he would be harmful with a butcher knife.
On Wednesday, Jimmy Anderson Ayala Mayuri, from Peru, was arrested by federal officers while driving his food truck in the national capital, according to Ice.
“Cleaning the capital continues!” Ice wrote on X.

“Illegal Peruvian foreigner Jimmy Anderson Ayala Mayuri presented a large butcher knife to the federal officers and motioned to hurt him when we stopped his restaurant truck on the property of the National Park Service in DC today,” continued the post.
Ice said the man was briefly barricaded in the truck before being apprehended.
He will be held until an expulsion decision is made, according to the agency.

This comes after President Donald Trump’s recent decision to increase the presence of federal police in Washington in order to reduce crime in the district, although the mayor said that crime had already been down the city.
The Federal Take of Control of DC would also include the deployment of the National Guard and the United States Ministry of Justice taking control of the city’s police service.
