FBI/DOJ Announce Capture of Benghazi Suspect – RedState

Friday morning, Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel had a press conference to announce the capture and extradition of Zubayr Al-Bakoush, a suspect in the deadly 2012 Benghazi terror attack on the US compound.

Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel and US Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced the arrest on Friday. Bondi said that Al-Bakoush was charged with charges of murder, terror and arson, all related to the 2012 attack.

“Zubayr Al-Bakoush will now face American justice on American soil. We will prosecute this alleged terrorist to the fullest extent of the law,” Bondi said on Friday. “Let this case serve as a reminder: If you commit a crime against the American people anywhere in this world, President Trump’s Justice Department will find you. It might not happen overnight, but it will happen. You can run, but you cannot hide.”

As many will remember, on September 11, 2012, Islamic militants attacked a US diplomatic compound and a separate CIA annex, causing the deaths of four Americans: Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods, and Glen Doherty. The political fallout from that attack has endured, and, as emphasized by Bondi and Patel at Friday morning’s press conference, so has the quest for justice.

Here’s a bit more from the press conference from Patel:

“General, thank you. And I want to steal one of your lines: Never forget. Pam never forgot. The president never forgot. This FBI never forgot. And certainly, US Attorney Pirro never forgot. When an act of terrorism of this magnitude strikes at the heart of our nation, we go to work. President Trump has given us the full resources at the FBI and across the inter-agency to make sure we deliver justice.

“And, Pam, you’re right — Dan and I did sit down, early on, about this to bring justice. But you led the effort; you brought together the inter-agency. You said, ‘We are going to get this done because no one agency alone can do it. So we are grateful to have an attorney general at the Department of Justice who works together with every single Cabinet secretary and enforce(s) the law.

“I was at the airfield with US Attorney Pirro earlier this morning when we did the formal foreign transfer of custody of Bakoush into US custody to face prosecution under her auspices and her office. — ever, and we will not.”

This is a developing story.
