Here are some images showing what these scratches look like a digital microscope:

Ifixit spoke to David Niebuhr, engineer and mechanical engineering professor, who explains why the stripes around the iPhone 17 Pro camera remain so with savings damage that did not appear in tests from other areas. According to Niebuhr, the problem is the net edge of the bump of the camera where the anodization process is not as even, because it says, “Apple could have prevented it by making a more progressive curve and avoiding a relatively clear corner.”

Ifixit adds that as long as you put your iPhone 17 Pro in a case, the camera tray “will probably see damage” at some point in his life. As for repair, IFIXIT grants Apple credit for a screwed battery, but criticized forcing users to remove the screen for most repairs – something that Apple avoided in the new air of the iPhone.
