Ilhan Omar silent after NBC retracts part of ICE story on 5-year-old girl

Representative Ilhan Omar, d-minn., Remained silent after his criticism of immigration and the application of customs (ICE) on a story that NBC News was forced to correct this week earlier.

Omar’s remarks came in response to an article that the point of sale initially published on X with the legend: “The ice agents held a 5 -year -old autistic girl outside her home in Massachusetts to put her father to go to the authorities last week, according to the girl’s family.”

“It’s vile and beyond Cruel. Abolish Ice,” Omar published on Tuesday.

This post X of NBC News has since been deleted, and the Ministry of Internal Security (DHS) has denied the account.

A later article by The Outlet read: “The video shows the ice with a 5 -year -old girl while the agents try to stop her father. Correction: a previous version of this article has poorly loaded the activities of ice agents in the video. The article was updated.”

Omar’s position remained as it is, however, and is still in place Thursday morning.

Fox News Digital contacted her congress office and campaign to ask for comments and if she planned to modify the position, but no response was given.

A video obtained by Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra shows the girl sitting next to a Application SUVHolding a bottle, while it was surrounded by several male officers outside her house to theominant last Tuesday.

NBC reported that the father, Edwards Hip Mejia, told his wife that he believed that he was followed and returned home. Once there, he would have run to the parking lot, but the agents “caught” their daughter, the woman told Telemundo.

We can hear the mother’s mother tell the police that her daughter is on the spectrum before asking that they refer her child.

DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin responded to Omar on X, calling the words of the “cruel” progressive instead.

“Ice agents have never used a 5 -year -old girl as” bait “. The illegal criminal foreign objective – with previous arrests for domestic violence and strangling, among others, addressed her own child in a car,” wrote McLaughlin.

“The target, Edwards Hip Mejia, ignored the emergency lights of the police to stop and returned home. He fled the car, gave the police the double major, and died inside his house. He abandoned his 5 -year -old daughter in the car. The police officers helped save the child and called the local police to signal.”

Omar’s position one day came before a shooter opens fire on an ice installation in Dallas, Texas, killing an inmate and seriously injuring two others.

Dhs said he “seems to be motivated by a hatred for ice”.
