I’ll ‘Quite Literally’ Chain Myself to Perimeter to Block ICE Facility

On Monday on MS NOW’s “Rachel Maddow Show,” Rep. Pat Ryan (D-NY) spoke about a potential ICE detention center in Chester, N.Y., and said that “literally, myself and others have said that if we have to, like, chain ourselves to the perimeter of that, we’re not going to allow that to happen in our community.” We are not going to allow this to happen in our country. »

Host Rachel Maddow asked: “So let me ask you about this process, do you really believe that the prison camp won’t come to Chester? Do you think that’s settled now?”

Ryan responded, “Look, I don’t trust this administration at all. I think all you could attribute to the confusion, I think, is just that they’re downright deceptive, they’re downright lying to the American people, as we’ve seen since day one of this administration. So we’re going to fight to the very last – until we’re certain. And, literally, myself and others have said, if we have to, like, we chain to the perimeter of this, we’re not going to let This happen in our community We’re not going to allow this to happen in our country And it’s been a fair fight, I’m really proud of our community, and it’s also a broad coalition, which is very encouraging to me in a really, obviously, dark and difficult time.
