Gaming mouse maker hosted malware on download page

For me, the biggest difference between a mouse or a “game” keyboard and a regular keyboard is the software. The game accessories need many more personalization options, and preferably a tool that allows you to automatically modify the parameters for each game. But the end of the game of mouse manufacturers has distributed a little more thing with its mouse software: a Troy Horse from a distance.
When downloading the official software tool for the OP1W 4K V2 mouse (Catchy), directly from the endgamous website, some Reddit posters discovered that it was packing a remote Trojan horse that sparked several virus scanners, but notably not Windows Defender. Other Reddit users on the Mouse Review Subdreddit have discovered other end -of -game installers with various malware packages, such as reported by the German security site Igor’s Lab.
The surveys found that the end of game site itself had probably been compromised during July 2 or after July 2, although own versions of the mouse software concerned were replaced by July 17. The end -of -game equipment was particularly silent on how malware has been published in its own official download repository. A wave statement on a Discord server after the file (apparently correct) has been re-tested is all that has been issued so far, without public-oriented messages on the company’s website or on the Reddit Thread where the problems were discovered for the first time.
The end of game customers are, in a word, upset, and it is difficult to blame them. Igor Laboratory and Reddit users note that if the Berlin -based manufacturer (Pro Gamersware GmbH) has discovered a malicious infection with access to user data, it could be in violation of the General Data Protection Regulations (RGPD) of the EU by retaining complete disclosure.
“From what I can say, Endgamegear did not address it publicly, which is incredibly irresponsible,” explains / U / U / admirable-Racroon597, the original poster. “The malicious zip file was replaced silently by a clean version, which clearly shows that they knew that something was wrong.”
