I’m Eyeing These 7 iPhone 17 Pro Max Rumors to Decide Whether to Upgrade

Whenever new iPhone models roll, I ask myself two questions: should I upgrade this year? And, should it be the year when I finally jump to the biggest iPhone Pro Max? Some years, it is a more difficult choice, like when the iPhone 15 Pro Max was the only model with a 5x telephoto lens. But as we get closer to the announcements of the iPhone 17, I could take the jump.

Here is an overview of some of the rumor features for the iPhone 17 Pro Max of which I am most curious.

Make the case to go bigger

The iPhone Pro Max models are reservoirs compared to the rest of the line – well, they are not in terms of the tenacity of the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 7 Pro, so maybe they are more like solid average SUVs. But they are notable for their larger screens, their greatest bodies and especially to have room for more of everything in an iPhone.

And this includes a larger battery. The Max models already have more battery space than other models, but the iPhone 17 Pro Max could end up being almost a thicker half-miletime, at 8.725 mm, according to a 9TO5MAC May post. Has anyone asked for a more large iPhone? In fact, yes, yes and yes.

Add the new adaptive power functionality in iOS 26, which uses AI to distribute energy more effectively when demand is high, and we could see an increase in daily use before looking for a charger. (Again, adaptive power could be a software bypass solution that could mean a longer lifespan using the same physical battery size.)

If you are already determined to transport a larger iPhone, a little more thickness and weight is not too shoulder.

The rear of the case of the iPhone 17 Pro should also discourage the Apple logo from its current perch. This does not seem to be a big functional change, but it should help appease people who choose to add a clear Magsafe case, because the logo will be centered in the Magsafe zone. You cannot say that Apple does not sweat the details of the design.

A leak on X of Majin BU claims to display a case of the iPhone 17 pro, although it is not clear if it is something that is assembled by hand to correspond to the specifications of rumors or if it is an iPhone.

Bring all the camera upgrades

We cannot talk about the case without mentioning the bump of the camera, which could become a larger camera island (or perhaps on the largest iPhone 17 Pro Max, it will look more like a camera continent) which extends over the width of the iPhone, according to Majin BU renders. I break this rumor of camera separately because it would mark a huge change in the iPhone camera system. According to an article at MacRumors, the iPhone 17 Pro could have an 8x optical zoom. Not only is that, it is able to move, so maybe there could be a range of zoom between 5x and 8x which is all optical (compared to rely on the digital zoom to crop and enlarge the image to adapt to the same field of vision). The 5x zoom in the current iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro Max uses a design of “tetraprism” to reach its range of telephoto lens while keeping the bump of the modest camera.

Video recording makes a jump

The cameras on both sides will work with a double video recording using the integrated camera application, a boon to carry out interviews or make reaction videos where you want to see both sides of a conversation. Third -party applications have been able to have exploited this capacity for some time, but have not been available as an option by default.

Not as important for daily use, but interesting in terms of progression of the state of the art, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could support the video recording 8K, according to macrumors after reports that 8K was tested for the iPhone 16 Pro. According to MacRumors, Wi-Fi 7 compatibility could be provided by a distinct dedicated chip designed by Apple.

These are not the only rumors of the iPhone 17 Pro that we are following, but at the moment, they are the ones who make me look at my calendar and that the wishes of September could happen a little more quickly.
