Covering large areas such as front lessons, aisles or wide side sites often means juggling several cameras and flows – and applications, if you buy from more than one manufacturer. But as users accumulate on more devices to cover all angles, the management of all these images can become heavy and costly.
The Wi-Fi Spotlight EC6 Panorama 3.5K of Imilab aims to solve this problem by offering a large and almost enveloping blanket from a single point of view. It is built to reduce the dead angles – and perhaps the need for a second or even the third camera.
The renowned function of Imilab EC6 Panorama is its large coverage, thanks to double lenses which offer a combined field of vision of 180 degrees.
Design and features
The EC6 panorama is a dome style camera with a clean white finish, designed to be mounted on a porch, under a warning or elsewhere which gives it a clear view of a large area. It measures 7.91 inches deep, 7.56 inches high and 5.04 inch wide, it is therefore not exactly discreet, but this can work in its favor as visual deterrence. With an IP66 rating, it is sealed against dust and can manage heavy rain or high pressure water jets, which makes it well suited to outdoor use in exposed areas. You can find out more about IP codes on the previous link.
The camera’s marquee function is its wide coverage. He uses two lenses with a field of vision at 180 degrees at ultra-large angle to capture wide scenes. It can also run 344 degrees and tilt 90 degrees to follow the movement through almost a whole perimeter. You control rotation and inclination via the Home Xiaomi application, which also offers a 6x digital zoom if you want a more in -depth appearance.

The voluminous design of the camera is not discreet, but the wide coverage eliminates the need for multiple cameras configurations.

It also uses AI to identify people and vehicles and to create virtual fences, with all the detection managed on the device itself – there is no cloud treatment or subscription. You can filter alerts according to the type of activity you want to be informed, which helps reduce the false alarms of things such as squirrels or the passage of headlights.
The video is recorded in 3.5K resolution (3456 × 1944 pixels). The camera offers a color night vision using its projectors on board, or you can go into infrared mode for a more discreet view in total darkness. This projector, as well as an integrated siren, adds an additional layer of deterrence when the movement is detected.
The EC6 connects more Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz, which offers a better range but could be more subject to interference in congestioned network environments. If a wireless connection does not work for you, take advantage of the RJ45 port on its power cord to establish a wired connection to your network. The bidirectional audio allows you to talk to visitors – or warn the intruders – directly from the application.
The camera works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, giving you the opportunity to control it with voice commands. Once paired, you can remove the live flow on a smart screen compatible or interact with the hands -free camera, which can be practical when your phone is not at hand.

A microSD card location allows local storage. It is hidden behind an attractive tab.

The video can be stored locally on a microSD card provided by the user (capabilities up to 256 GB are supported) or in the cloud. The latter needs a subscription: $ 4.49 per month for 7 days of event video of events or $ 6.49 per month for 30 days.
Configuration and performance
The installation of the EC6 panorama was simple. The camera includes everything you need to mount it and food. You will have to climb it near a socket, which limits your placement options a little, but once it is in place, it is solid and secure.
To start the configuration, you press a small reset button hidden behind a protective tab based on the camera. The microSD card slit is also located, and you will have to remove a few tiny screws to enter it – not difficult, but you will need a picking phillips screwdriver to do it; I had to borrow one from a computer repair kit. Once this is done, the Home Xiaomi application guides you in the Wi-Fi connection process, which only took a few minutes of testing.
The Home Xiaomi application facilitates start -up. The main control screen is clean and simple, with clearly labeled buttons for key functions such as bidirectional discussions, projector activation, snapshots and recording. A simple directional cushion allows you to control the pan and the inclination of the camera, and the sliding gestures can be activated from the camera settings. Most features are easy to find, although some – such as automatic monitoring and sleep mode – are always hidden in a submenus. Overall, it is a fluid and friendly experience that does not require a lot of learning curve.

The Home Xiaomi application has clearly labeled buttons for key functions such as bidirectional discussions, activation of projectors, snapshots and recording plus a direction to control the pan and the inclination of the camera. Other features can be personalized from the Settings menu.

The EC6 Panorama offers excellent video quality. The images are clear during the day, and at night, the camera automatically goes into color mode when the movement is detected, using its projectors to light the scene. This helps keep power while giving you detailed night images when it is important.
The monitoring of the AI movement works well. The camera follows people and vehicles when they move in the frame, and for the most part, it remains locked. It is not perfect – once for a while, it oversees or drifts outside the target – but it is fast enough to be useful, especially if you look at events in real time.

The bidirectional audio worked well. I had no trouble hearing people at the other end, and my voice clearly came when I tested it from the application. It is more than enough to give delivery instructions or shout on someone to leave your lawn. The spotlights and sirens also come into play without any delay – of all and fairly brilliant to surprise, if not frightening someone.
We reviewed the Imilab at two 2K -Caméra – the Double October imilab and had an equally favorable opinion.
Should you buy the Imilab EC6 panorama?
If you have to monitor a large area and not want to assemble the cover with several cameras, the Imilab EC6 panorama is a solid bet.
With a street price of $ 169.99, it offers a lot for the price: wide coverage, reliable performance and intelligent features that often come with high -end models. This is worth it for anyone looking to simplify its monitoring configuration without sacrificing the coverage.
