A selectively bred carp strain increases productivity and profits in polyculture ponds in Bangladesh, thereby improving overall pond performance in smallholder systems. A study carried out shows that third generation rohu (G3), developed by WorldFish, grows 32.6% faster than conventional local fish and increases net margins by 24.8% for farmers, with higher total production and income in polyculture pond systems. The research is published in the journal Aquaculture Research.
