New Twists in Viral MN Daycare Story Amid Response From Officials That Won’t Go Over Well – RedState

Minnesota officials have now responded to independent journalist Nick Shirley’s viral daycare “ghost” video.
I suspect their response will not be very well received.
Minnesota officials revealed Monday that the state is re-examining several day care centers implicated in a now-viral YouTube fraud investigation, but say past visits and investigations have revealed no concrete evidence of fraud. [….]
Speaking on Monday, Department of Children, Youth and Families Commissioner Tikki Brown directly addressed the video.
Brown says each of the 10 facilities featured in the YouTube video has been visited at least once by the state in the past six months as part of standard licensing checks. Now, Brown says the state is reviewing each site again to verify the allegations raised in the YouTube video. […]
Brown said the previous visits were unannounced and children were present at each of the sites during the checks. The state also says the number of children attending child care was consistent with what was expected at the facilities.
Brown said that while there were prior investigations in some locations, “none revealed fraud.”
According to the report, none of the centers had their money stopped due to fraud.
Separately, the story also clarified a report by officials that the “Quality Learning Center” had been closed, saying it remained open.
The NY Post confirmed this by sending a person to the Center. However, the Monday following the viral video, after all this hubbub, there were children there. A local told the Post it was unusual, that he had never seen children there.
The Post said they saw about 20 children while surveying the area.
Ibrahim Ali, the owner’s son who said he was the manager, told The Post on Monday that Shirley’s visit took place before opening day. [….]
He also blamed a graphic designer for the site’s now-famous typo on his sign.
“What I understand is [the owners] deals with a graphic designer. He did it wrong. I guess they didn’t think it was a big deal,” said Ali, 26, who said he helped with homework and paperwork at the facility.
“It’s going to be fixed,” he said of the sign.
Another employee insulted them: “Get out of here. »
KARE 11’s Lou Raguse also said they appeared to be open, despite officials’ initial report that they were closed.
