Indiana is looking to continue its magical run during the 2025 college football season. Unfortunately during the Hoosiers’ Week 8 home game against Michigan State, the game went into a weather delay.

We’ve seen a number of college football games get interrupted by weather so far this season, and the Week 8 game is the latest.

Here’s the latest updates on the delay, possible resumption and more.

Why is Indiana vs. Michigan State game delayed?

The initial delay started around 5:12 p.m. ET, as lightning was spotted within the radius of Memorial Stadium:

As of right now, it’s unclear when the game will resume at this time. Indiana, which entered this game 6-0 on the season, led 21-10 when the delay began.

The Hoosiers trailed 10-7 early in the second quarter, however.

According to NCAA rules, games must be paused if there is lightning within a six-mile radius of the stadium. Teams are prohibited from returning to the field until there is no lightning in the area for 30 minutes, which have to be uninterrupted. Every time there is a new lightning strike, the clock to resume restarts to 30 minutes.
