Discord admits Windows 11 app hogs RAM, tries solving it with auto-restarts

Discord now admits that its Windows 11 app is using unnecessary amounts of memory, Windows Latest reports. To resolve this issue, the communications platform is currently testing a new feature that automatically restarts the application whenever RAM usage exceeds 4 GB.
Fortunately, the test won’t cause Discord to randomly close in the middle of an active session. This will only trigger the automatic restart if the application has been running for at least an hour. And the user has been inactive for at least 30 minutes And is not in a voice or video call.
In addition, the Discord application can only be restarted automatically and once a day maximum.
The Discord app’s memory usage is typically around 1 GB, but due to how the Electron app’s underlying framework works and how it is implemented, the app’s memory usage can quickly get out of control as more servers and features are loaded.
