Trump-Putin summit today; Texas Democrats’ boycott : NPR

President Trump and Russian chief Vladimir Putin should meet today in Alaska for a high challenges summit In an effort to end the Russian war with Ukraine. The meeting should start at 11 a.m. local time. The two leaders will meet first, with their translators. The White House said yesterday that Putin and Trump would have a joint press conference. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was not invited to the summit, but Trump said he hoped for the meeting would be the next one. Here is everything you need to know before the summit.

Trump has become frustrated by Putin’s actions in the war and said there could be consequences for Russia if something significant does not happen today.

Progress on arms control is a good thing, especially since the new departure treaty – the last agreement of this type between the United States and Russia – expires at the beginning of next year. Maynes says that Russia could bring agreements to the table that does not relate to Ukraine but could call on Trump’s desires to be considered a global peacemaker.
- 🎧 In Ukraine, the people of Greg Myre of the NPR spoke of two basic responses: Nothing important will come from Reunion and Putin does not undertake to continue the war. The Democrats of Texas House announced yesterday that they will return for the second special session of the legislature in the State May California are starting its own redistribution process. The Democrats have left the state to prevent a voting managed by the GOP to redesign the cards of the Texas Congress, which should create five new republican districts.
