I’m glad Bloober Team is remaking another Silent Hill game – it’s just a shame it’s the wrong one

As a fan of Silent Hill, I am delighted that the series has regained its place. The last entry, Silent Hill Fwas generally very well received by most criticisms and players, while the Bloober team has done admirable work Silent hill 2 Last year.
Now the Polish studio confirmed in an investor call on September 30 that it came into production during the overhaul of the first match in the series. The news that the Bloober team would be handed over to the reins was announced at the start of the Konami press in June, but now the starting pistol has been dismissed on development itself.
However, as affectionate as I am from the classic PS1 of 1999 which started the series, it is not the entry that I would like to see the most in the modern era. No, there is another underestimated title that deserves modernization, which is something of an upstart, something of an aberrant value in the series – and as Silent hill 2This is, in my opinion, one of the best horror games of all time.
In my restless dreams …
I first played Hill Silent: Broken Souvenirs On a PS2 emulator (Shhh) many years ago, and as you can expect, it was not a glamorous affair. Many edges of unleashing and stuttering have dared my game, but despite these obstacles, the game still managed to subject me to my skin like few others.
It was released in 2009 and developed by Climax Studios. The main designer was Sam Barlow, best known for his interactive fictional titles that weigh in mind, His story And Say lies. His most recent work was 2022 Immortality,, Which is one of the few games to get a perfect 10 in Edge magazine, if that stings your interest.
It is itself a remake of the first silent HillAlthough it may be better described as a reimagination, given its many starting points. But the basic premise remains the same: the protagonist Harry Mason lost his daughter, Cheryl, after having crushed his car in the city of Silent Hill, so he leaves to find her.
Unlike the original, which turns into a Schlocky intrigue on a fanatic cult, Broken memories plunges into Harry’s inner psyche himself, making him more closely aligned with Silent Hill 2’s Protagonist, James Sunderland, in this regard. These two would be a riot at a dinner.
Rather than following a right path from the housing open to the closed case, Broken memories Takes a winding route to develop its central mystery, throwing many curved bullets along the way to hurt the chin and the head of all scrapers, before diving into dream-logical sequences and making narrative rugs pumps, which had absolutely fascinated me.
What sets of dishes Broken memories Apart from his gameplay. There is no fight, and the only monsters that appear come to intermittent decorations, where the world freezes (the variant of this rust world game in previous entries) and the creatures loaded with ice pursue you.
These sections are, without a doubt, the least pleasant aspect of the game, and have the impression that Climax Studios did not have the strength of his conviction – or the Greenlight of Konami – to make a horror game without any real monster.
What I really want with a silent hill game (and any other psychological horror, by the way) is a disturbing atmosphere, combined with an exploration and absorbent puzzles. And for the most part, that’s exactly this Broken memories gave me.
Aside from these sections of ice prosecution, Broken memories is a pure psychological horror, trying to sail in the eponymous city to discover its mysteries, as well as the inner life and the struggles of its different citizens.
The control scheme was also interesting. As it was designed for Wii, it must naturally use the Wii remote control, so interacting with the world meant a lot of spikes, torsion and turn of objects.
Not only was it a tactile system, but it also used to slow down the player, which is a good thing. Broken memories It is not a game that you are supposed to rush. It offers a more meditative experience, asking you to take your time to absorb everything it has for you.
For this reason, I would like to see Broken memories On a large modern television screen operating on a large modern console, extended on my sofa to best appreciate the cinematic scanning and the madness of the head of the head. It would not be a game that I would like to play my PC … again.
As conflicting as I speak of modern remakes and remasters (you don’t help, Deus Ex: RemaStered), there is a good practical reason to redo Broken memories. It was only published on Wii, PSP and PS2, which means that it is not exactly the most accessible game of the series that fans can play.
If there had been a version of PC at the time, we could at least have relying on fans technically qualified to bring life to life, which makes it compatible with the equipment and modern controls, as they did with the superb improved mod for the PC version of the original version of the original Silent hill 2. These projects manufactured at fans often are ashamed of official remasters in their care, their dedication and their scope.
But in this absence, the best thing would be for Broken memories To obtain complete makeover treatment. Maybe if the Bloober Team Silent Hill 1 remake decreases as well as its remake of the suite, Broken memories will be the next on his task list. And if this is the case, or any other developer elsewhere, then please, please: be courageous and chop these ice prosecutions. THANKS.
