Suspension of Foreign Corrupt Practices Act generated record gains for companies involved in overseas corruption cases

When United States President Donald Trump signed the executive order suspending the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) on February 10, 2025, companies previously involved in foreign bribery collectively earned approximately $39 billion. On average that day, each company that was investigated or sanctioned under the FCPA increased its market capitalization by $160 million. A month later, the average gain per company was around $6.5 billion.
