Iran launched missile and drone strikes targeting US military installations in several Middle Eastern countries on Friday, in retaliation after coordinated US-Israeli strikes against Iranian military and nuclear sites.
Explosions have been reported in or near areas housing US forces in Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Jordanaccording to regional officials and state media. Several of these governments said their air defense systems intercepted the incoming projectiles.
No deaths or injuries among U.S. military personnel have yet been reported, a U.S. official told Fox News Digital. US authorities have not released casualty figures or formal damage assessments.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) described the operation as a direct response to what Tehran called “aggression” against Iranian territory earlier in the day. Iranian officials said they targeted U.S. military infrastructure and command facilities.

The U.S. military has previously carried out strikes against what officials described as high-value Iranian targets, including IRGC facilities, naval assets and underground sites suspected of being associated with Iran’s nuclear program. A US official told Fox News that US forces “suppressed” Iranian air defenses in the first wave of strikes.
Tomahawk cruise missiles were used in the opening phase of the US operation, according to a US official. The campaign has been described as a multi-geographic operation designed to overwhelm Iran’s defensive capabilities and could continue for several days. Officials also said the United States is using unidirectional attack drones in combat for the first time.

Iranian retaliation has targeted countries that host US forces, including Bahrain – home to the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet – as well as Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar and Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates. Authorities in these countries reported intercepting a large number of incoming missiles. At least one civilian was killed in the United Arab Emirates by falling debris, according to local authorities.
Iranian officials called their response proportionate and warned of additional measures if the strikes continue. A senior US official described Iranian retaliation as “ineffective”, although independent assessments of the overall impact are still being developed.

Regional governments have condemned strikes on their territory as violations of their sovereignty, increasing the risk that other countries could be directly involved if the escalation continues.
The situation remains fluid, with active military and diplomatic channels throughout the region. Pentagon officials are expected to provide further updates as damage assessments and casualty examinations are completed.
