Republican Rep.’s Bill Would Remove Any Naturalized Citizen Who Supports Terrorism – RedState

Republicans are not standing idly by in the face of recent terrorist attacks against Americans. On Thursday, Rep. Riley Moore (R-WV-02) announced he will introduce a new bill aimed at strengthening our nation’s ability to denaturalize and repatriate naturalized citizens who support terrorism and/or commit attacks in the name of Islamist jihad.

Moore wrote in an X post:

And other members of the GOP have been working to fix the problem for months. Defense Department Sen. Eric Schmitt said in an article Thursday that we need to strengthen the current law, which makes it “virtually impossible to denaturalize these terrorists,” and proposed his January Stop Citizenship Abuse and Misrepresentations (SCAM) legislation as a solution:

Schmitt spoke about his legislation, the Stop Citizenship Abuse and Misrepresentation (SCAM) Act, after a naturalized citizen from Lebanon allegedly rammed his vehicle into a Michigan synagogue and a naturalized citizen from Sierra Leone opened fire at Old Dominion University on Thursday in separate incidents in the latest violent attacks in the United States by naturalized citizens.

Under current law, it is virtually impossible to denaturalize these terrorists.

If there is a silver lining, it appears that the recent terrorist attacks against the country are still too much for Democrats in Congress to bear, and the shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) may not last very long.
