This Disgusting Take on Spiking of ’60 Minutes’ Story Shows Dems Have Truly Gone Off the Rails – RedState

There was a lot of bad reaction when editor Bari Weiss published the 60 Minutes article about illegal aliens and CECOT, El Salvador’s prison.

Now, keep in mind that she wasn’t saying she wasn’t going to tell the story; she just wanted more done before it was made public, such as including a current administration comment in the story, which they didn’t do. Indeed, they made three different comments, from the Department of Homeland Security, the State Department and the White House, but they did not include any of them.

But people on the left didn’t care that these seemed like legitimate editorial concerns. Perhaps one of the worst responses came from Julie Roginsky. Roginsky is a former Democratic strategist who has also appeared on Fox News Channel and now has a Substack newsletter. She actually compared Weiss’ action to Dachau, the infamous World War II concentration camp:

The visible part of his article on the substack expanded on this point a bit. I am not a subscriber, so I can only comment on what is visible.

If escaped Dachau inmates had staggered into a newsroom in 1930s Berlin – starved, beaten, bearing witness to a system designed to make human beings disappear – the most dangerous person in that room would not have been the regime’s censor. This is the editor who allegedly smiled sympathetically, took notes, promised “serious consideration,” and then quietly killed the article on the grounds that it did not present both sides of the concentration camp debate.

This editor-in-chief, in today’s American media landscape, has a name: Bari Weiss.

So, asking journalists to do their job and improve their articles constitutes censorship? Oh, and Dachau?

Can we say how unbalanced this is?

First, it amounts to downplaying what happened at Dachau. Illegal aliens sent to prison are not equivalent to innocent Jews sent to their death. The comparison is crude and disgusting, especially when it is aimed at a Jewish woman like Bari Weiss. She even included a photo of a concentration camp with Weiss’ photo superimposed.

Why can’t people on the left argue a point without turning to the Nazis/Hitler? It just shows that their argument is flawed from the start if they go there. She was rationed to the moon, and she still hasn’t removed her position, so she has no shame.

Roginsky also took a dim view of Bari Weiss’s memo to staff demanding more work on the story, commenting Weiss said she had tracked down the number for staff to contact Trump officials Stephen Miller or Tom Homan for comment, that they had not hesitated to offer comment.

Warning for graphic language:

As if the 60 Minutes “journalists” couldn’t find the numbers, Roginsky sneered.

Um, yes? This is exactly the point Weiss makes: where is the Trump administration’s comment, because it wouldn’t take much to get it? But they didn’t put it in the story.

Oh, and if you were talking about a newsroom in Berlin in the 1930s, chances are Weiss wouldn’t have been there because she would have been purged for being Jewish, and they didn’t like people who could challenge their story.
