A police officer was stabbed shortly before 9:10 a.m. Friday morning in the lobby of the Livonia, Michigan, police department.

Local 4 reported that a man entered the lobby, allegedly “waving a knife” and saying he wanted to kill people.

The officers attempted to tase the man, but the suspect managed to stab a police officer in the leg before being subdued. WXYZ noted that the officer’s gun “discharged” when the officer was stabbed, but the bullet did not hit anyone.

The suspect who stabbed the officer was reportedly “involved in an assault in Westland” about an hour before showing up in the police department’s lobby.

CBS News noted that the injured officer “is being treated at a local hospital and is in stable condition” and that “the suspect is in custody.”
