Issiah Ross accused of 2022 double homicide claims self-defense as case moves forward

Nearly four years after the deaths of Lyric Woods and Devin Clark in Orange County, the man charged is on trial. The trial began on Wednesday, January 14, after the jury and its alternates were seated.
Issiah Ross, 21, is charged with murdering the two teens in September 2022. Ross was 17 when he allegedly committed the crime; however, he is being tried as an adult. He has pleaded not guilty and claims self-defense in this case.
After rejecting a plea bargain offer on Monday, January 12.

The motions that were granted Monday include consolidating the charges into one trial, excluding witnesses from the courtroom with a few exceptions, and Ross pleading that it was self-defense, although it was filed late, according to the prosecution.
New court filings show jurors can also hear from nine “expert witnesses,” including an FBI special agent and a medical examiner.
The judge said the trial could last two weeks.
