The assembly of the state of New York Zohran Mamdani succeeded in an astonishing upheaval this week. In the primary of the New York Democrat mayor, he beat the longtime winner, former governor Andrew Cuomo, who conceded the race only a few hours after the ballot box. The two candidates were of the same party, but occupied very different positions: Cuomo is older, spent more than a decade as governor and positioned himself as a centrist of the law and the order. Mamdani is younger, more recent in politics and a total progressive. It is a main race in a single city, but it has made a new national and could shake the strategy of the Democratic Party after re -election. Brittany sits with Christian Paz, a senior policy journalist at Voxand Max Rivlin-Nadler, journalist and co-publisher at Hell doorA local information site for New York. They discuss what this race says where the progressive energy comes from – and why the Democrats could have a moment of tea.
