It’s Time to Pass the Big Beautiful Bill to Unlock the Golden Era of American Housing – RedState

By Daniel Keenan
I started my house for construction of houses eleven years ago, and since then I have built more than a hundred unifamilial houses and projects in the East Valley in Arizona. Whenever I drive anywhere these days, it is difficult not to go through one of these houses and think of people who would continue to spend their most precious moments inside the walls and under the roofs that my crew and I have framed, adjusted and joined.
But a family I think a lot is the one that bought the second house I built. Although far from being financially rich, they were rich in family life. The father served in the army, the mother was a nurse and had three young children. I was both proud and humiliated the day I gave the keys to the house they would make their house.
While many politicians speak of the “American dream” of home ownership, I had the chance to play an intimate role by helping the Arizonans to realize this dream.
But that also means that I am on the front line of the affordability crisis at home in the United States which puts this dream more and more out of reach for young families. According to the National Association of Realtors, the average age of buyers for the first time went from the mid -1920s when my parents bought their first house at 38 years old today, and the average age of all house buyers is now 56 years, against 49 in 2023.
Biden administration policies have accelerated this crisis by increasing both the cost of building houses and reducing the ability of young families to allow them. High manufacturing costs due to more regulations and higher taxes, as well as record inflation, have maintained more families to rent instead of possessing, as the media said that the “dead” American dream.
But I think there is hope. Although it is still under negotiation and its ultimate adoption is uncertain, the major bill of President Trump (BBB) contains arrangements that can reverse this trend and help bring the American dream for workers families.
Twenty-five percent of new house fees are linked to environmental and authorization federal regulations. The BBB eliminates many of these regulations, allowing manufacturers like me to build houses at lower cost without compromising quality.
The BBB will also reduce the cost of construction by allowing an immediate tax deduction for the machines we use in the construction of houses. In the past, we had to amortize the cost of a new truck over six years, but if the BBB passes, we can deduce it immediately. This also applies to all companies that make sustainable products that new houses need, such as ovens, refrigerators, rings and dryers. This provision will reduce the cost of new houses in all areas.
Beyond the reduction in the cost of construction, the BBB also helps families working to allow themselves new houses by putting more money in their pockets. In addition to preserving the tax reductions adopted during the first administration of President Trump, this bill increases the children’s tax credit to $ 2,500 and adds a $ 1,000 savings account for each child.
It also expands the usefulness of 529 education accounts, which allows them to be used for home education, tutoring, vocational training and other educational expenses. And this almost doubles the amount of money before taxes that families can put in their health savings accounts.
During the four years of the Biden administration, some of the people who suffered the most were hourly workers who found that their ambition to earn more by taking additional changes or going beyond to win tips encountered even higher tax rates.

This changes if the BBB passes. He holds the president’s promise to have overtime and tax -exempt wages. It will also be a boon for the first stakeholders and the police who will be able to put their additional profits not taxed to a deposit for their first house.
The BBB also helps victims of Biden’s economic disaster by expanding opportunity areas. These areas offer investors financial incentives to create new jobs in areas in difficulty, giving more Americans who have been left behind the possibility of starting to climb the economic scale.
When I think back to this family of five who moved into one of the first houses I built, I wonder if a family like them could afford a house today, and I doubt. This doubt is what led me to decide to go to Congress because we need more people in Washington who will fight for families like their own and will work to make American dream their dream once again.
And I am encouraged by President Trump and close republican majorities at Congress who work hard to adopt the major bill, which will do so much to reduce the cost of housing and put more money in the pockets of families so that they can afford home houses.
